Rising 7th & 8th Grade Camps and Rising 9th–12th Grade Camps

The camps operate at Shining Light Dance Academy inside West Oaks Mall near SunPass. YSMT partners with this facility for studio space during summer intensives and weekly sessions.

Drop off begins at 8:30 AM, though camp officially starts at 9:00 AM. This 30-minute early drop-off is included in your camp week at no additional cost. At this time, we do not offer earlier extended care.

Carline begins at 3:00 PM and ends at 3:30 PM. This 30-minute grace period for pick-up helps keep traffic flowing smoothly. Please pick up by 3:30 PM to avoid a late fee.

Late Pick-Up Fee: $10 will be charged to your account for pick-ups after 3:30 PM.

Yes. One-week camps conclude on Friday with a ticketed showcase featuring songs, choreography, and scenes.

Two-week intensives (for example 13 Jr and RENT School Edition) perform on the second weekend. Details are emailed on the Monday evening of camp week.

Showcase and performance tickets are sold through our box office.

Lunch & Snacks

Pack a non-perishable lunch with plenty of snacks to keep your camper fueled throughout the day (Monday–Friday). Fridays = Pizza Party! Papa John's Pizza is provided at no additional cost by YSMT. Pizza will be provided for lunch on Fridays. If your child does not want pizza, please pack an alternative meal.

Water Bottle

Bring a reusable, leak-proof water bottle, labeled with student's first and last name.

Proper Footwear

Closed-toe sneakers are required for safety. Absolutely NO sandals, jazz shoes, Crocs, Uggs, or slip-on shoes of any kind.

Comfortable Clothing

No sweatshirts, long sleeves, or jeans—they will need full range of movement! Wear non-restrictive, breathable athletic wear to allow for dancing and movement.

Hair

All hair must be pulled up and out of the face for day camp and activities. (Including boys)

Optional: Snack Money

The YSMT snack counter will be open for additional snack purchases. Snacks range from $2–$4 each.

Camps are structured, focused, and high-energy. Students participate in vocal rehearsals, choreography sessions, scene work, character development, and small and full ensemble rehearsals, with scheduled snack and lunch breaks throughout the day.

The environment mimics a pre-professional rehearsal while maintaining fun collaboration. Auditions for two-week intensives occur on day one.

Monday, the first day

Parents park and walk students through the front entrance of Shining Light Dance Academy. During check-in, staff greet students, parents receive brief facility tours, and staff indicate where the back entrance is.

After Monday

Front entrance drop-off continues as available. The back entrance can also be used for drop-off and pick-up after Monday, with staff assisting outside.

The facility features a secure magnetic lockdown system. Ring the doorbell so staff can be notified and proceed to the door for late arrivals or early pick-ups.

No prior experience is required, but these camps are aimed at focused, collaborative students. Both emerging and experienced performers are welcome.

Students should be respectful, focused, and collaborative. Cell phones remain stored during camp except for brief lunch and snack use, so that we keep an unplugged atmosphere.

• •1st warning will be a verbal warning possibly a brief sit-out of participation.
• •2nd warning will be a phone call to the parent/guardian about behavior.
• •3rd warning the student may be asked to be picked up early with a private discussion at pickup.

If a camper exudes consistent disruptive or inappropriate behavior, they may be asked to disenroll from camp. Refund policy remains the same.

All refunds are at the discretion of Young Star Musical Theatre Inc. and must be discussed with all parties involved.

During Summer we follow this policy:

• •Up to 14 days before your camp session no refund can be given. Only 100% future camp or class credit.
• •Any camp cancellation before the 14 day period, refunds will be provided, less a $25 admin fee.
• •Refunds/exchanges/credit during the week of camp are at the sole discretion of YSMT.

Camp is not prorated. Whatever was taught in the day that the student missed will be re-taught to the student.

If a camper decides to end their camp session early, refunds will only be in the form of YSMT credit for a future camp or class and will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

At this time after-care is only offered on a case-by-case basis. Please inquire within.

• •After-care is a fun and relaxed environment with games and activities—no new material will be taught during this time.
