Needs-based · every semester

No family should skip theater over cost.

Young Star sets aside money every semester so that a child who wants to be in a show can be in a show. Scholarships are needs-based and cover up to half of tuition. There's no committee to convince and no paperwork to chase — you tell us what's going on, and two directors read it.

1

Ask for what you need

One short form. An amount, and a few sentences about your situation in your own words.

2

Two people read it

Only the directors see what you write. It never reaches volunteers, other parents, or your child's cast.

3

The award applies itself

Approved awards become a code on this page. Enter it at checkout and it comes off your balance.

The plain facts

Who it's for
Any family for whom the tuition is the thing standing in the way. We don't ask for tax returns and we don't rank families against each other.
How much
Up to half of tuition for a program. Costume fees can be included if you ask.
How often
Apply each semester — a fall award doesn't carry into camp season, and applying again is never held against you.
When to apply
Any time, including after you've registered. You do not have to wait for a decision to hold your child's spot.
What it doesn't affect
Casting. Scholarship applications are never seen by the casting team, and every child who registers is cast either way.

Log in to apply

Applications live in your family account, so you can see the answer in the same place you registered — and so nothing you write travels by email.

Other ways the cost comes down

Monthly payments

Most productions can be split into monthly installments instead of one payment. Choose it at checkout — no application needed.

Sibling discount

The second and any further child in the same season come with a discount applied automatically.

Costume closet

Ask the costume team before you buy anything. Most of what a show needs, we already own.
