Frequently Asked Questions

What do we need to pack for a day of camp?

1. Non-perishable lunch with plenty of snacks. Fridays we will have a pizza party at lunch. Please pack a lunch if your student does not want pizza.

2. Reusable, leak-proof, water bottle labeled with their first and last name. 

3. Everyone needs to wear closed toed shoes (no sandals, crocs, or slip ons)

4. No sweatshirts or long sleeves, no jeans. Everyone should wear non-restrictive clothes that allow dance movement. 

5. All hair must be pulled up and our of the face. 

6. Optional: Money for purchasing additional snacks. $2-$3

My child does not have any theatre or dance experience, can they still do a camp?

Summer camp is a perfect time to try new things! There are always plenty of new students at camp. We believe our camps are designed for students of all levels, experience is not necessary.  

What age groups do you offer?

Camps are divided into 4 age divisions. Ages 4, 5, & 6, Rising 1st & 2nd, Ages 8-12, Middle & High School. 

Clermont: Ages 8-12

Do the camps have an end-of-week performance?

Join us for a summer camp grand finale showcase. After a week of hard work and creativity, our campers take the stage to dazzle audiences with their talents. Parents, friends, family, and fans are invited to attend the showcase.

Lego Camp and 3-Day Camps do not have a showcase presentation at this time.

Where do we drop off our student(s)?

Winter Garden: Please drive through our carline drop off loop by following the building around to the back. For further details, watch our carline video here.

Do you offer Before/After-Care?

After-Care: $50/week or $10/hour.

we do not offer After-Care for half-day (4, 5, & 6 yrs) camps. Campers must be picked up between 12:00-12:30.

Please bring additional snacks or money to buy snacks. We will not be teaching new material during aftercare, it is for fun and relaxation.

There is a 5 minute grace period for late arrivals. If you are arriving late to general pick-up, you will be charged $10 after the 5 minute grace period.
If after care is over, you will be charged $1 per minute late. Please plan accordingly.

1st/2nd Grade Camps: 8:30—2:00pm
Drop off between 8:00-8:30
Pick up between 2-2:30*
*After-care 2:30-5:30

All Other Camps: 9am—3:00pm
Drop off between 8:30-9am*
Pick up between 3:00-3:30*
*Before care: 8:00-8:30
*After-care 3:30-5:30

What if my child misses a camp day(s)?

Camp is not prorated and cannot be made up. If a camper decides to end their camp session early, refunds will only be in the form of YSMT credit for a future camp or class.  

What is your refund and exchange policy?

All refunds are at the discretion of Young Star Musical Theatre Inc. and must be discussed with all parties involved.

During Summer we follow their policy:
-Up to 14 days before your camp session no refund can be given. Only 100% future camp credit.
-Any camp cancellation before the 14 day period, refunds will be provided, less $25 admin fee.
-Refunds/exchanges during the week of camp are at the discretion of YSMT. 

What is your cell phone policy?

At YSMT our building is “unplugged”. Meaning all students, interns, and directors are expected to turn their phones in to the phone box at the beginning of the day. Students who may need to communicate to their families are welcome to do so on a snack break or lunch break, but cannot use it for entertainment purposes. We encourage our students to make new friends and engage with one another in the real world, thank you for respecting this policy. 

Can I stay and watch?

We do not allow parents to sit inside the studio during class time, however, there are picnic tables in the front of our studio and anyone is welcome to sit there at anytime. 

What are your behavior policies?

1st warning will be a verbal warning Possibly a brief sit-out of participation.

2nd warning will be a phone call to the parent/guardian about behavior.

3rd warning the student may be asked to be picked up early with a private discussion at pickup.

If a camper exudes consistent disruptive or inappropriate behavior, they may be asked to disenroll from camp. Refund policy remains the same.
